Spinal Decompression Therapy
Patients who suffer from the chronic pain associated with bulging, degenerating, or herniated discs, that result in pains like sciatica or carpal tunnel syndrome, may benefit from treatment using a non-surgical spinal decompression. Injury to the disc and/or spine can manifest as back or neck pain itself as well as associated pain in the arms and legs. Spinal decompression therapy, also known as non-surgical spinal decompression, helps reduce excessive loads on tissues that cause pain, bulging, herniations, etc. At FFNG, we may utilize multiple modes of therapies at one time, such as LASER combined with decompression therapy, to expedite the rate of recovery.
The therapy itself works to stretch the spine to create negative pressure and space within the disc to allow disc fluid to move back into place or to off-load tissues under heavy load. This creates an environment in which the disc can receive more nutrients and therefore heal itself more quickly and effectively. The ultimate goal of spinal decompression therapy is to restore integrity. Tissues with more integrity can do more work, and are less-likely to fatigue and/or fail, which leads to the production of chemicals that cause pain.
